About the event

Dr. King’s “I Have a Dream” speech is one stamped into time. A speech so heavily referenced and called back to; a speech revered by many silver tongues as a masterpiece. There are two women who are integral to this famous oration, the magnetic Rev. Prathia Hall and the Queen of Gospel, Mrs. Mahalia Jackson. For this session of History Bites, we’ll engage this speech from a different perspective. We’ll take a look at the ladies who inspired Dr. King’s moving words, those who held him up when his spirit and hope wavered. Join us as we unpack the influence of a young girl from Philly, a powerful songstress, and gospel’s impact on faith.
